I’m sure you found a delicious recipe you want to try, and stopped the moment you read buttermilk on the ingredients.
In United States, for instance, you can find buttermilk in grocery stores, but we don’t really need to buy this ingredient, because it is very easy to make and, if the recipe requires 1 cup, you make exactly what you need without wasting any.
Buttermilk makes the difference in many recipes. Red velvet cake, for example, has a spectacular flavor due to buttermilk. It is also used on pancakes to make them extra fluffy.
So now, every time you see a recipe that says buttermilk on the list of ingredients, do not discard it. It is so easy to make and you only need whole milk and white vinegar or fresh lemon juice.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup whole milk, room temperature
1 tbsp white vinegar or fresh lemon juice at room temperature
INSTRUCTIONS:
Pour the white vinegar or lemon juice into the milk, mix with a spoon until combined and let sit for 10 minutes.
So, every time you’ll make a recipe with this ingredient, make the buttermilk first, and then set the rest of the ingredients, so that when it’s time to use it, it will be ready.
If the recipe requires ½ cup of buttermilk, just pour ½ tbsp of white vinegar or lemon juice, and so on.
See how easy it is? Now, it’s time to start with those recipes you have in mind!
