First of all

Crash landing on you CLOYThis review has no spoilers.

I have never made a review about a tv series, books only. But this time I wanted to write about Crash Landing on You, because it is one of the best dramas I have ever seen, and as it turns out, it is the most popular television drama in Korean history.

CLOY is a worldwide success, and everyone is talking about it. Huge part of that success is thanks to Netflix. This platform is investing in lots of Asian dramas, which is awesome for us fans!

Korean dramas

There’s something special about Korean dramas (in case you haven’t seen any); for starters, they are top quality in terms of production, every character is well developed; actors are very good and committed, no matter how big or small is the role they play; and the stories, despite how fictional they might be, are amazing, touching, and they really get into your heart. I have noticed that most stories use the fate factor in their plots, and I think that’s beautiful. Those are some of the reasons why I am a big fan of Korean dramas.

Now, back to Crash Landing on You

Synopsis

Crash landing on you CLOYCLOY tells the story of two star crossed lovers, Yoon Se-ri, a South Korean heiress, and Ri Jeong-hyuk, a member of the North Korean elite who is also an army officer. One day, while Yoon Se-ri goes for a short paragliding ride in Seoul, South Korea, a sudden tornado knocks her out and blows her off course. She awakens to find herself in a forest in North Korea. It is there that she meets Ri Jeong-hyuk, a North Korean army officer. Ri Jeong-hyuk eventually gives Yoon Se-ri shelter, and develops plans to secretly help her return to South Korea. Over time, they fall in love, despite the divide and dispute between their respective countries. (Source: Wikipedia)

I have to warn you that this is an entirely fictional story.

Why do I recommend Crash Landing on You?

The characters

Crash landing on you CLOYI am in love of the main characters of CLOY. Yoon Se-ri is an amazing woman, I love her personality; despite all the things that happen to her, her problems and loneliness, she stands up straight and moves forward, she keeps fighting. She suffers a great deal, but does not let anything bring her down, she is awesome. As for Ri Jeong-hyuk, he is such a good man, a gentleman. He fights for what is right and helps everyone the best way he can. He is someone you can trust and lean on.

I could write about all the characters of this drama with joy, but it’s best if you meet them yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

The North and South Korean conflict

I have read about the conflict between North and South Korea before, I have seen breathtaking interviews and reports about the situation in North Korea, and let me tell you, it’s heartbreaking. This drama shows nothing compare to reality, at least that’s what I think. What you will see about the conflict in the drama, is very light, but it will give you a slight idea of what is the situation like over there. After the drama, you might want to read about the real thing. I think it’s good for people to learn about what’s happening outside their comfort zone.

The locations

CLOY was shot in South Korea, Mongolia and Switzerland. Many of these locations are beautiful. My favorite ones are the ones in Switzerland, which is one of my favorite countries in the entire world. Those scenes are breathtaking!

The OST

The OST of South Korean dramas NEVER disappoint! I have a playlist dedicated only to songs from Asian dramas, they are so beautiful! So, this OST is no exception, the music is just amazing. My favorite song in this drama is this one.

The love story

Crash landing on you CLOYLove stories in South Korean dramas are, in most cases, beautiful and touching. What’s amazing about them is that they lack passionate and intimate scenes, and you know what? There is no need for those! Because the focus of the story is how they fall in love, how their fates unite. So, your heart pounds like crazy while you are watching a love story, and it’s the process of it, how it starts, how it develops and how it ends. Sometimes the ending is happy, sometimes is not, but their story is what you end up loving, what moves you. CLOY’s love story is beautiful. It makes you laugh; it makes you scream; it makes you cry; it makes you sigh.

Whether you are an Asian dramas’ fan or not, I highly suggest you watch Crash Landing on You, which you can stream on Netflix.  You may love it, you may not, but give it a shot and let me know your thoughts!
