The entire world knows about the Coronavirus, most of us read and see news about it all the time, about what is happening worldwide, and locally.

The plan is quite simple: In order to avoid spreading the virus, it is mandatory to stay home and don’t go outside unless is absolutely necessary, by that it means for instance: if you need to buy indispensable supplies, or medicine, things like that. And if you have to make that trip, wear gloves, a mask, and do not get close to other people.

To be honest, those instructions are not so hard to follow, right?

And yet, the streets are filled with irresponsible people, especially young ones, who have no respect for the rest of the population. I have never seen such lack of empathy towards others. Such careless attitude. It breaks my heart and makes me incredibly angry to realize that this is happening in many countries; and makes me wonder: What is wrong with us? Why can’t we play our part and help the world heal?

Do you honestly think that because you won’t die from Coronavirus, it’s okay to go out and spread the virus? What about the rest of the population? What about your parents, grandparents… your friends’ elders? What about those who suffer from asthma or any other pulmonary disease? Don’t they matter? What about the sanitary emergency? Don’t you realize that your city could get to a point where no hospitals will have room for so many infected, and Doctors will eventually have to choose who to save and who to let die? It’s just that… I’m trying to understand your reasoning…

Because of people like that, especially young generations, it gets harder and harder to have faith for a better future.

As parents, it is our duty to raise our kids right. We need to encourage their empathy, their love of nature and their innate desire to change the world. It is our responsibility.

Now that our kids are locked up at home, talk to them, explain the real situation, don’t hide the truth from them. Let them feel a bit of fear, pain, and empathy towards the infected and the death. Don’t let them grow up to be like those millennials who are walking and drinking on the streets right now, taking pictures and videos for their social media, with no care at all for the people around them.

As for the current virus threatening the vulnerable, the sanitary system and the economy of the entire world; please, please, please, you are playing an important part during this crisis. Stay home and follow the instructions of your Government and the WHO.

Exactly! Where I live people haven’t gone outside today because the mayor said that police will retain anyone who does not follow the quarantine. It was the only way! Unbelievable!
