«A story of life, and love, in the middle of that historical event, the pressures of society…»
Hace varios días tuvimos nuestra primera reunión del Club de Lectura, para hablar sobre nuestro primer libro: El amante Japonés, de Isabel Allende.Para empezar, les cuento que el libro me encantó. Su historia provocó en mí varias emociones; y también, leí por primera vez, sobre un aspecto de la historia de Estados Unidos, luego del ataque a Pearl Harbor que nunca antes supe, y que fue crítico en esta historia. No puedo evitar pensar cuántas historias reales sucedieron durante esa época.
Una historia de vida, de amor, en medio de estos eventos históricos, la presión de la sociedad, en qué se basaron ciertas decisiones de vida, y giros inesperados hicieron de este libro una delicia que no pude soltar y que me gustó muchísimo.
Y así de increíble fue la reunión del Club, sentarnos y expresar cada una su visión del libro, lo que más nos impactó, nos gustó, no nos gustó, cada percepción fue única y valiosa para todas. Fue una experiencia divina que disfruté mucho y me desconectó por completo de todo lo demás.
Definitivamente formar parte de un Club de Lectura es una experiencia tanto o más enriquecedora que la misma lectura del libro; y yo les recomiendo que estén donde estén, consideren vivir esta experiencia. No importa que el club empiece con dos integrantes, porque es suficiente para compartir tus opiniones y a veces relacionarlas con tus vivencias, identificarte, desahogarte…

A few days ago we had our first Reading Club meeting, to talk about our first book: The Japanese Lover, by Isabel Allende.
For starters, let me tell you that I loved the book. It made me feel several emotions; and also, I read for the first time about an aspect of United States’ history after the Pearl Harbor attack that I never knew about, and was critical in this novel. I can’t imagine how many real heartbreaking stories occurred in that period.
A story of life, and love, in the middle of that historical event, the pressures of society, the motives of certain life choices, and some unexpected turns made of this book a delight that I could not let go and loved.
And just as incredible as the reading, was the Club meeting. Sitting together, and express one by one our vision of the book, what impacted us, what we liked, disliked, each vision was unique and valuable to all of us. It was a divine experience that I enjoyed enormously and disconnected me completely from everything else for a while.
Being part of a club like this was definitely an enriching experience, just as much, or maybe more than the book itself. And I highly recommend that wherever you are, consider this experience. It doesn’t matter if the club starts with 2 members, because it is enough to share your opinions, and sometimes, relate them with your experiences, identify, let something out…
